Missoula does a fantastic job putting on this race. I’ve run the half the last four years and each time it has been awesome. The course is easy enough for a possible PB, but good enough for a challenge. Excitement builds during the entire weekend of the race and the finish line is no disappointment with good food, free beer, free photo and swag you will be proud to display. Results are in almost as soon as you cross the finish line! The entire route is lined with signs, musicians and plenty of water stations. This current year had a slight problem with bag pickup at the end, but this snag was immediately acknowledged and addressed by the marathon producers. Only one other thing that I would like to see changed is to return to the awesome send off with fireworks at the starting gun, instead of having them intermittently before the gun.

Every year this race gets better. From the start with warm up exercises, a fireworks send off and running into the sunrise, to the encouragement and entertainment along the whole length of the course all the way to the great finish line the excitement buoys runners to do their best while having fun. I will be coming back for this one as long as I can manage to run or walk the course!
