Cincinnati knows how to put on a race. Great expo with lots of cool swag. P&G is a major sponsor so expect lots of freebies. The course is difficult. The first 2 miles are uphill, but the last 2 are downhill. Wasn’t expecting it, given the difficulty of the hills, but I set a new PR. Nice after party as well. Definitely worth a trip to Cincy!

I recruited 4 friends to run this race with me in honor of my 50th birthday. The race organizers did not disappoint! The expo was small compared to what I’m used to, but they had everything you needed. I even bought a race poster & got it signed by the artist. The course was beautiful! What’s not to like about running through vineyards on a gorgeous fall morning? The first mile is all up hill, but overall not a difficult course. 3 of us had injuries so we walked instead of running. Most races I’ve run have had a large number of walkers. Not this one. We were a little worried being back of the packers, but everyone was so nice and cheered us all on. The benefit of walking was we got to enjoy wine on the course at 3 different stops. Nice! The after race wine fest was great. We really enjoyed the intimate feel of this small race and easily being able to sample wines and sit on the lawn listening to the band play. Overall our group had a fantastic time & we all agreed we wanted to participate again next year. Cheers!

I train on flat running trails so I had no grandiose expectations for a fast run. This race is known for its hills (20+), but it truly was a beautiful course through the horse farms in Lexington. I kept hearing about the hill at mile 9. I survived to tell you it is as tough as you’ve heard! I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see a finish line. With that being said, I was not far from achieving a PR. The race director does a fantastic job with communications leading up to the race. The expo was fun with quite a few vendors. There was an issue with our original tech tees. They were replaced with awesome tshirt hoodies and the medals are huge! My friends & I plan to do this race again. Check out the Kentucky Classic (duo of this race & the Derby Half). Don’t let the hills scare you. Accept the challenge!
