Running a half-marathon on a course that is almost entirely downhill is super fun! Orca Running does a fantastic job of organizing: great communications, easy shuttles, friendly volunteers, good refreshments. Their medals are works of art. I loved this event! My only suggestion for improvement for them is to source women’s shirts that are true to size.
If you have bad ankles (not naughty, just floppy), you should know the trail is varied in texture. Parts of it have larger-sized gravel, there are some divots here and there, and some uneven ground–i.e. it is a trail run, not a road race.
I thought I was through with half-marathon-ing, but this event has me reconsidering that decision.
Snoqualmie Valley Half
Flat, shady, well-organized run.

I enjoyed this well-organized event. There were plenty of port-a-potties near the start line. The trail was flat, shady, and peaceful. It’s pretty, if not jaw-dropping-ly scenic. There’s a section with chunky gravel that I disliked, but it’s only for about a quarter mile. I’m happy the t-shirts came in women’s sizes and that they’re soft and have an interesting design. I’ll wear it frequently. I also like the wooden finisher’s medallion–much better than heavy metal bling, IMO. I’d like to participate in this event again and hope they start it earlier in the morning (the 10k started at 9:30; 8 or 8:30 would suit me better).
