I have ran the Fargo marathon twice and both years participated in the GoFar Challenge (5K on Friday, Marathon on Saturday). I love the Fargo Marathon because it is an affordable marathon!! You save money on the cost to run especially compared to other marathons, but still get a very organized, well-run marathon event! There are a wide variety of places to stay in Fargo that are super affordable! And the swag you get is incredibly awesome and you get A LOT of it!! For completing the GoFar Challenge, I received the 5K T-shirt and Medal for finishing. For the marathon, I received a very unique drawstring bag, which included zipper pockets. I received a Fargo Marathon sweatshirt, finishers medal and bottle opening magnet. The expo and packet pick-up is a fun event and again really well organized! They have a variety of different booths to check out and also a neat video you can watch of them driving the marathon course. This year, I really enjoyed the scenic course along the river, which also included bands along the way. It is a FLAT course, which offers a great opportunity to run a PR. During the race, there was fantastic water stops with friendly and helpful volunteers and several bathrooms to use along the course. Along with all of these great things, you get a friendly environment and very friendly people that welcomes all runners, fast or slow, who celebrate not just running a marathon, but celebrates everyone’s efforts of being fit, active and having the courage to get out there and run! I have run a few different marathons from Grandma’s to Twin Cities to Chicago and I continue to want more Fargo because of the amazing weekend it always is! It’s a quality race that I can always count on for a great and memorable experience!
