I was really dreading this race due to the evening start time! The weather was great!! Once we got going it was amazing!!! Lots of great sights and picture opportunities. Thankfully also lots of water stops and Porta potties on course! The course entertainment was awesome! Hands down a fantastic race with a cool glow in the dark medal!

The race was well put on. They let runners go in waves, but there were still a lot of walkers too close to the front that impeded running. The finish shoot seemed to go on forever! Even though this was only a 5k, the medal was pretty small.

Route 66 Marathon was an amazing race!! The half is done! The crowd support was awesome!! People were all along the course cheering. They had so many stations set up for the runners. . Donuts, muffins, pancakes and jello shots, tequila (or bourbon) shots, fireball shots, and lots of beer stations. The regular aid stations were pretty good too. Really fun race on a nice course!

It’s a beautiful course, but hard to pay attention to due to it being a trail and needing to focus on the footing. If I hadn’t already had flights/car/hotel booked I probably would have deferred when they changed this to trail. It was single track and lots of rocks and unstable footing. We even stopped to help a lady who fell on course and cut her face open. That being said. . .Vacation Races always puts on a great race with nice bling!! Seeing the eclipse was such a great bonus, and they even handed out eclipse viewing glasses at the expo. If they return to the original course next year, you’ll still get amazing views and scenery!! This is a great getaway race with Horseshoe Bend. Glen Canyon, Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon, and the Grand Canyon so close by!!

The expo was pretty nonexistent. There were quite a few out and backs, which aren’t my favorite. You run through a lot of lower class neighborhoods, not the best scenery. The roads in Canton are crap, so you spend most of your time staring at the ground to keep from twisting an ankle in the holes and chunked out pavement. The finisher fest is just a line to get your swag. . .but BEST MEDALS EVER!!!

This race was really well put on!! There were so many road crossings manned by volunteers and police officers, it was pretty impressive! It is quite hilly, but not unbearably so. You get to run in Sanford Stadium and you are on the jumbotron as you’re running. Really cool!! And the finisher medal is fabulous!! Definitely glad we found this race, and highly recommend it!!

An okay race with a well marked course. The out and back at the beginning and end are odd, and are obviously there just to get the distance. There are three official waterstops, nothing to write home about. They also coincide with the relay exchanges. There aren’t a lot of people to cheer you on since the course is mainly on back country roads. The swag consists of a cotton tshirt you pick up at a nonexistent expo. The race could have a lot more participants with more effort in the planning.
