This was a beautiful course and I chose early start because I am slow as molasses. Stops at about every 2 miles and awesome volunteers!

The course was your typical New England “rolling hills” and that last “rolling hill” at mile 12 almost took me out! 😭

I wasn’t expecting much at the finish line because I’m slow. In the past I have had timing mats almost pulled by the time I finished. Such a pleasant surprise when I finished this race with full course support. 🙂

For my fellow back of the packers and 50 staters, I definitely recommend this race for Connecticut.

This was one of the hardest courses I have ever done because you start at high altitude, go another 6 miles up hill, then turn around to go back downhill. Didn’t actually see any horses (they were rounded up a few days before).

Small after party, but a community festival is going on at the same park as the finish line. Lots of fun, just don’t expect a PR.

Gorgeous scenery and will definitely return for the 10K some day.

This was my first ever Mainly Marathon event and I was a bit skeptical about doing a repetitive course. The course was very straightforward and you pass by a massive food and drink table new time you grab a band to count your laps. I got a new personal worst because I was too busy eating and socializing that I forgot I had a race to finish lol.

I’m a half marathon walker and loved the no pressure atmosphere. It is difficult for those of us to find a back of the pack friendly race in New England on a weekend without short time limits. When I saw this race was on a Saturday, I jumped on it.

In short, if you need course variety or large crowd support, this race is not for you. If you want a fun stress free atmosphere, then this is your race series! Already planning my next Mainly event. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, but will never look at rubber bands the same way again.

I am a back of the packer, so keep this in mind when reading this review. This race had EXCELLENT signage that makes it impossible to get lost, sweepers constantly checking up on you to make sure you are ok, and plenty of left over water/Gatorade at aid stations still there after volunteers left. The course itself was mostly through residential areas with some hills. There is also a small trail section with loose gravel. Very supportive atmosphere and charming brewery for post race activities. A few hills, but I would definitely recommend for Massachusetts.

I’m a half marathon walker and was so excited to see this race had a 4.5 hour time limit. I was very confident to participate in this race.

What I didn’t expect were poor course markings that caused me to be lost TWICE. On one occasion a volunteer was in the bathroom instead of pointing me in the right direction. Everyone else was so much faster that I couldn’t keep an eye to follow other half marathoners. The race knew I was the last half marathoner because I overheard conversations on walkie talkies. No sweepers after around the 8 mile mark. I was very nervous I would miss my flight!

A couple of friendly walkers pointed me in the right direction so I did finish the race, dead last. Probably my overall worst race experience. Not of fan of being abandoned in a strange city.

At least the bridge and beach were nice to visit. I got a time and I medal. I guess beggars can’t be choosy?
