The Half Marathon is run completely on wide open roads so you can easily find your pace. The corrals are self seeded. If you choose the right wave you will not need to weave. The course has some gentle rolling hills, but nothing too steep, up or down. Most of the course is along the beach giving you a great view. Water and Electrolyte stations were well supported. Port-a-potties were near the water/electrolyte stations and were plentiful. I did not have to wait while on the course. Pre-race parking to visit the Expo was free and conveniently located. Race Day parking was also free when you parked in the shuttle access areas. I really appreciate the smooth and easy access to and from the venue. I wish they could start the Half Marathon a bit earlier (7:45) gets a bit warm and it’s nearly hot at the finish.

The most important thing to know about this race: It is difficult to travel to and from the venue. Traffic has been an issue. Organizers need to inform participants of the best routes into and out of the venue. They are not communicating this information NOR making clear routes. Stay at a downtown hotel and walk to the start corrals.
Customer Service, Course, Support are up there with the best of the Beach Cities Challenge races. Swag? Their shirts haven’t been my favorite. I wasn’t a fan of the fabrics they used last year or this year. Course is relatively flat and fast, but the one “hill” comes in the last 2 miles.
