Highly enjoyable course with great views yet challenging. Loved the trail portion of the course with all the trees and rushing rivers! You do have to watch your step though as there a rocks and sticks along the way. But it’s a trail so yeah… The long downhill portion of the run give you an opportunity for a PR! Beat up my quads but I enjoyed those fast miles. Lots of aid stations with water, electrolytes, stinger packs and oranges! I would say the finish line needs to be improved. Thick grass and an uneven surface was a bit treacherous for unstable legs after that downhill. An absolutely gorgeous medal and chocolate milk and boxed snacks at the end. Overall, I loved it and will run again!

Race date 12/01/2010
This race was the last time it was run in daylight and Cher sung the national anthem!
I was suffering from a knee injury and hadn’t ran in 3 months prior to this event. I participated because I had already registered, booked flight, hotel and rental car.
Bad decision on my part as had to wait 16 months before running my next half.
Overall, the race production was fine. Running the strip was an experience, even in the early morning hours. Scenery was nice except some areas down in the older parts of Vegas were a bit run-down and dirty. Kinda sketchy…
Although one of my slowest races due to my previously stated knee issue, the course was flat and I’m sure it’s fast.
Gu was provided as well as fire hydrant water. The medal was classic RNR, thick and heavy with a dash of glitter.
Would love to return and run it during the night one of these years.
