This was a very small race with little communication prior to the event. I could not find any information regarding the course other than what was used in the city permit. No mention of aid stations or porta-potties on the course. The course was flat and fast although I had not trained for it. The last mile of the course was not visibly marked. The medal was nice even though no mention of the event date.

The course was challenging as several hills were involved; however, the scenery made it worthwhile. Running along the coastline with mountains and views of downtown was nice. The route was mostly paved with the exception of a portion through the woods via trail which was a break for my knees. I was able to spot a moose along the course which was exciting being my first time in Alaska. Plenty of aid stations but personally I felt like more restrooms should have been available or more strategically placed.

This is my second Rock N Roll race, and it was a little underwhelming. Compared to DC, there weren’t as many performers on course and there weren’t as many spectators along the way. There were some scenic views but much of the course was boring in my opinion. There were plenty of aid stations although some were either understaffed or under stocked which was surprising. The weather was nice for the race but because I prepaid for medal engraving I waited for the “estimated” 45 minutes in the rain and wind. After an hour, I finally asked for my medal back since I had to catch a shuttle to Vancouver. They were kind enough to pull my medal and move it to next in line for which I was grateful.

Loved the course! Most memorable section is definitely the wear blue Mile. Plenty of aid stations and post race refreshments of water, gatorade, chocolate milk, banana, granola bar, and hummus w/pretzels hit the spot! Also liked the option to pick up merchandise upon exit.
