This was my second time running this race and it was just as enjoyable this time around. Full disclosure — I had the honor of winning a RaceRaves giveaway that paid for my entry fee, which made it even better!

Weather was ideal, maybe even slightly cooler than the last time the event took place in 2020 (the race was cancelled in 2021). The crowd was slightly thinner this time than last. Event production was outstanding as per usual and the finisher’s medal this year was truly hefty (I think the thing must weigh no less than five pounds). Beautiful scenery of the cruise ships and surrounds, especially at the beginning and ending. Aid stations were plentiful and cafecitos were available pre-race, although I didn’t have a chance to partake in the coffee this year to my own dismay.

Given this is the only half marathon I have run, I don’t have a great basis for comparison; however, I have found this to be an awesome experience both times and would recommend it to any runner who enjoys the half marathon distance. I feel lucky to live within walking (running) distance of this superb event. A big thank you to RaceRaves for allowing me the opportunity to race this one again and to share the experience with others.

As a first time half marathon runner, I was very excited for this race and it did not disappoint.

The weather was beautiful on race day, starting out in the high 50’s/low 60’s and quickly warming to low 70’s within a few hours. Starting line was easy to access despite some road closures en route. The cafecito setup was awesome and a big highlight of the morning. An abundance of portapotties lined the beach, negating the need to stand in a line (another big plus.)

The course was scenic and enjoyable, with several bridges allowing for wide views of the skyline and Miami landscape. Aid stations were plentiful and well organized. I felt safe throughout the race despite running next to cars for various stretches thanks to the officers working the race. The sight of cruise ships while crossing McArthur Causeway was a highlight, as well as the final stretch leading through the winding path along the beach.

The finish festival was enjoyable and the medals provided were cool. It was nice to see a lot of local presence at the event, as well as people from all over the world participating. Overall, the race was very well produced compared to others I have participated in. I definitely plan to run this race again next year.
