the course is not exactly the flattest or easiest, but there is a good amount of downhill once you’ve reached the peak at around mile 7 (after which it’s completely flat). I had a great time at the finish area with music and swag. Easy parking and just an overall good experience, no regrets about the race organization.

The course is really nice, but if you’ve done the GG bridge many times before, this race is nothing special to be honest. It starts at an ungodly hour, so you can practically count the number of spectators on one hand. I’ve done all three of the main races a total of 5 times because my friends always do them and just have never had that great a time. Do it once and see what you think. It certainly isn’t like every other big city race.

Done LA several times and really enjoy the course. It’s a wonderful showcase of the area – takes you through all the sites to see, and you’ll probably do it faster than you could in a car! Weather has been oddly strange (either super hot or pouring rain) several times in the past year, but I don’t think that’s expected. Pure bad luck? Regardless I’ll definitely be back to do it again soon.

Affordable race with a good, PR-course. Always a little disappointed that half of the course isn’t in Golden Gate Park like they say so watch out! It can get very monotonous running along the unshaded Great Highway back and forth. I just plug in my music and go. No medal but lots of free stuff at the end.

Definitely not an easy course, do not expect to use this as a BQ or PR if you aren’t accustomed to hills. But the views are truly incredible. Do it with your friends and take it all in slowly. With their new entry system, who knows if you’ll ever be able to do it again…

Done Chicago twice – before it was converted to a lottery last year – and both times have been absolutely incredible. The city itself is amazing, and the marathon does a REALLY good job at showcasing the city. It’s clear the marathon means something to this place. Highly recommend.

Done the CIM multiple times (I want to say three if I can count correctly) and just love it. The course is net downhill (but don’t think that means no hills at all) and the organization is very good. The weather can be a little funky sometimes but generally you shouldn’t have a problem. Scenery isn’t amazing but this is definitely the race if you’re looking to plug in your music and focus on the end goal (whatever that is for you).

I have now done the ORF full marathon, marathon-relay, and half marathon. Overall I think Corrigan Sports does a pretty good job putting it on every year. Oakland has so much soul and the community really comes out to take part in it (unlike the SF Marathon, on the other hand). The half course isn’t my favorite though – it’s pancake flat but lots of turns. Perhaps I just didn’t like it so much because it was pretty hot and not shaded when I ran it, though.

Ran this as a training run and ended up sprinting into the finish line! Had a great time – a very “productive” course where you can just focus and go. Pretty sights of the vineyards, even get to run through a wine room which is pretty cool. No hills that I can remember. Not a spectator race but good for PRs, BQs, and training runs!
