I had a distastrous travel day the day before the race so I did not get to experience the expo (sadly!) but the rest of my race experience was great! Communication, transportation, and the start line were very smooth. I thought the weather was great and I enjoyed the scenery and the course, other than the last 4-5 miles when things flattened out as it was simultaneously getting much warmer. Although the course was a downhill course, I didn’t think it was too extreme. Gravity was definitely my friend for the first 3/4 of the race especially. The only thing I would critique is that the water/aid stations could have used a few more volunteers. I also felt the Nuun was very watered down at many stations and I think I didn’t get enough electrolytes/carbs from the Nuun which contributed to my hard fade in the last 3 miles. I was depending on what was on the course since I lost my bag with my own supplements the day before so I wished the Nuun was mixed a little stronger or else something with more carbs like Gatorade on the course. I thought the finish line was great; I loved the free photos and the chance to make a highlight video. Swag was nice and the medal was huge and heavy! I did PR my marathon by over 7 minutes (previous PR was just a little over 2 months ago in January at Houston). Overall, I thought it was a well-run race and it is definitely a great course to run fast on. I would for sure recommend this race to anyone looking for a fun race and a PR attempt!

I have been participating in the Dallas Marathon weekend every year since around 2011. I’ve participated in the relay and half-marathon multiple times. This year I did the 5 person marathon relay. I always enjoy the Dallas Marathon weekend series of events and this year I thought they did a really good job for the 50th anniversary. The swag and medals were great! The shirts were a nice quality and you got both an event shirt and a finishers shirt. The 50th anniversary medals were beautiful and a really nice size, even for the relay. The relay was better organized than it was two years ago in 2019 but they no longer provide transportation to the relay exchange points so that is definitely an inconvenience to figure out how to get to and from the exchange points. This year the finish line food was much improved with pizza, tacos, chocolate milk, bananas, UCAN bars, Gatorade, and water all being provided. BMW Dallas is a great race to end the fall racing season with, especially for the Dallas running community. It’s like a big Dallas run reunion/party! I will probably continue to particpate in this race every year as it has become a December tradition for me.
