Wy’east Trailfest is a celebration of mountain trail running featuring Mt. Hood’s illustrious alpine terrain, with 50K, 28K & 14K courses that reach Oregon’s rooftop, plus a beautiful 8K (5 miler) and Kids Race to round out the weekend! Whether racing, volunteering or spectating, join us up high on Wy’east (the native ancestral name for Mt. Hood) at the Pacific NW’s wildest mountain trail race experience.
All weekend, we’ll celebrate together through the sport of trail running as honor the mountain and recognize each other’s accomplishments with awards, excellent food, craft beverages, and fun games and activities at Oregon’s premier ski area, Mt. Hood Meadows.
The 50K is held on Saturday and offers a world class loop-style route, run twice on volcanic alpine ridgelines up high, and deep forests, wildflower meadows and waterfalls down low. This is a true mountain race, starting at Mt. Hood Meadows at 5400’ elevation, traveling as low at 4500’ and up to 8000’ high on the volcano. Elevation change involves 8,100′ of gain, 8,100′ of loss across a full spectrum of PNW terrain, from forested, smooth dirt singletrack to steep, technical, exposed and sometimes scrambly rocky trails. Spectacular views abound from start to finish!

Inaugural 100k distance added to this race weekend this year. Out and back from Mount Hood Meadows ski resort toward Parkdale, Oregon along Gunsight pass and Surveyor ridge to the east of Mt Hood. 11,000+ feet of vert with the majority on the return 50 k will challenge your mountain legs. Great views along most of the course ease the pain. All of DaybreakRacing events are tough and beautiful and this is no exception. Some minor issues that should improve next year but otherwise good production value with great shirt from Territory Run Co and I received a nice wooden plaque for 3rd overall place. This should be a Western States qualifier and hopefully it grows into one.
