West Coast 5K SCADaddle for Research – San Diego

The West Coast 5K SCADaddle for Research – San Diego is a chip timed 5K run/walk that takes place on the east side of Crown Point Park on Mission Bay. Enjoy the course along the bay on the bayside walkway. All runners/walkers will be timed. Awards will be given to overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place male/female overall and to the top three males/females in various age groups.

Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack. Most patients are young, healthy and active women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can recur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options. SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.

We are honored to have Dr. Sharonne Hayes from Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program (Rochester, MN) join us and share Mayo Clinic’s latest SCAD research findings after the 5K to all those interested. There will be also be time for a Q&A after her presentation.
