Run Vigor! This mostly downhill course will take you through the early-morning stillness and beauty of Big Cottonwood Canyon, past giant rocks and running water. This is the perfect race for the rookie half marathoner and a great race for the experienced runner to achieve a new PR. But more importantly, this race will help you reconnect with why you started running in the first place. The half marathon course is USATF sanctioned.
The beautiful Solitude Mountain Resort is the race day staging area for the Vigor Big Cottonwood Canyon 13.1. (Half Marathon). Runners will enjoy waiting inside the ski school (with 20 indoor restrooms) as they sip their choice of hot chocolate or coffee. From the staging area runners will take a short warm up walk to the start line at the Silver Fork Lodge and Restaurant. For the next 11 miles runners will experience the beauty and majesty of this amazing V-shaped canyon… from its many impressive rock forms to the sound of the raging Big Cottonwood Creek. Elevation for this course will start at 7700 feet and end at 4700 feet. Runners will get the chance to embrace a few flat spots and grades up to 7.5%. Once out of the canyon, runners will follow cones (through parking lot) and will be directed down a ramp. The path will lead runners under Wasatch Blvd and continue to hug the Big Cottonwood Creek for about 3/4 mile. While crossing at Big Cottonwood Canyon Road take note of the Historic Old Mill on your right. The remaining course is relatively flat as it continues along the Big Cottonwood Creek to the finish line at Old Mill One Building. At the finish line runners will be greeted with a finisher medal, and be able to enjoy food, music, and massage. Invite the whole family along for the fun!
Don’t miss the race that was voted Utah’s Top 10 and received the Utah Runner’s Choice Award, and that City Weekly voted Best Of Utah!

Who could ask for more than running from the top of snow covered mountains, next to a roaring stream, through breathtaking scenery. All downhill but extremely beautiful. The most scenic race I have participated in (at least for the first 12 miles). The altitude was a little bothersome for me (flatlander) for the first couple of miles but I would absolutely run this again. Very nice medal. A little blah on the shirt though.
