Once over lightly … maybe? I’ve Raved Brazen Racing’s Victory event before, but 2022 was the first time I did the half marathon distance. So … it’s and out-and-back, mostly on the Bay Trail, starting near a former Ford plant in Rosie the Riveter national park, with different turn-arounds for the three distances. It’s a Brazen race, so production is excellent, from researching the event before registering through leaving the parking lot to return home.

Probably the 10K (and 5K) course is the most scenic, pleasant on both sides of the trail. Some time after the 10K turn-around, the half marathon course has freeway or industrial buildings on the inland side and bay scenery on the other, until runners reach the Albany Bulb, which is entirely pleasant (why a peninsula into SF Bay is called a “bulb”, I don’t know). The one brief hill, on the half marathon course only, was on the Albany Bulb. Otherwise, the courses are almost literally flat.

The tech-type T-shirt is light blue, with a large red, white, and blue “V” (Victory ships were built where the park is now), and a white banner across it with the word “Victory”. Very nice, though not quite “favorite grade” for my tastes (Brazen always has excellent artwork, and this really is NOT an exception).

The medal, on the other hand, is the most to my taste of this event’s finisher’s medals that I’ve seen. In the background is a large white circle, with a red ring around it. In the circle are stars, and around the ring are the year in Roman numerals and the distances. The foreground is an eagle perched on an anchor’s flukes with its wings raised to form a “V”, and across its chest is a banner with the word “VICTORY”. The ribbon is blue, with the race information. For those who also ran in Brazen’s Bay Breeze, there is a connector medal (octopuses and eagles have a natural connection, right? 😉 ).

I was very happy with my finish time, the best I’ve done since mid 2017 (and half an hour less slow than two weeks previous). A running friend and I sort of paced each other by talking the whole way, which kept me from thinking about things that hurt a little or how tired I was getting. Brazen is consistently excellent, so I will consider doing Victory in 2023.

This is a really great race. It starts and finishes at the Marina Bay in Richmond. The half marathon is really flat and takes you out along the bay to Albany Bulb area, and back. Tons of aid stations and lots of support. I was able to squeak under a sub 2 so I am very happy!! 🙂 If you do the Bay Breeze race (two weeks earlier) and this race, you get a really cool connector medal (pic included)

Course runs along the path around Richmond Marina Bay and thru Richmond Park. A very beautiful course.

This is a nice marina and historical site. You can charge your car for free here, but you have to park in the right lot, going through the gate with the security guard. It’s also a nice part of Richmond. I was pleasantly surprised with the marina, and it has some venues, historical sites, etc.

Brazen puts on a great show as usual, music, food, vendors, parking directions, and the swag was the best, especially if you also do the equally flat Bay Breeze Run beforehand. If you do both races, you get a third medal a B2V center one, and they’re all big and bling y :). I’ve posted a pic of this year’s.

This is a flat run along the marina, over various terrain, including wood. You get to see the bay too, and it’s better than the Bay Breeze Run for the 5K as far as views and cleanliness go, but both go along the water. The boats are nice too.

As with all Brazen Racing events, this race was great because they had:
–Fun music and atmosphere at the start
–Incredible aid stations with good fuel and hydration options
    –Amazing medals and shirts
–Great finish line area with food options and the signature, always appreciated, It’s It ice cream sandwiches

I also loved that they had pacers at this one!

My only critical feedback would be:
–Part of the course was right next to the freeway which was loud, smelled bad, and had big rocks you had to navigate around
–I couldn’t find the port-o-potties before the race (maybe my fault? I didn’t have coffee…)
–There were very few (one?) photographers out on the course this time
–I always, always wish Brazen had beer at the finish! Or blood mary’s!

Entrance fees are fair and you get great medals, t shirts, and good food after you finish, not to mention the famous IT’S IT’S ice cream sandwiches. Its also awesome that they give age group medals for finishers as well.

This is a flat and fast course with beautiful bayfront views for most of the race. I ran the 5k in 2016 and the 10k this year. Parking was easy and the pre-race bib and shirt pick up were a breeze. Course was well marked. Only downside is the out and back nature of the course – the 10k runners get jammed up with the slower half marathoners on the way out and with the slower 5k’rs on the way back.

I love this race, I was lucky enough to participate in the inaugural 2016 event and plan to run this race every year. Paired up with the Brazen Bay Breeze race two weeks earlier – it makes for a nice double feature (with triple connected medals). A not difficult course of out and back – a good flat course for a potential PR if you want to push it, otherwise just enjoy the scenery. As always Brazen puts on a great event – best medals, t-shirt designs and race course support of any race series I’ve participated in.

The race starts and ends at the Craneway Pavilion and runs along the San Francisco Trail at the Richmond Marina. The Craneway Pavilion is the former site of the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant that was built in the 1930’s, but converted to build jeeps and tanks for WWII. Hundreds of war ships were also built at this location.
The course is flat and fast. There are great views of the San Francisco Bay. You will see the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge. Today it was cool and crisp, but no rain. I have run the 5k at this race since Victory’s inception started in 2016. This one of my favorite races. The volunteers are great. This year the medal had a spinning propeller on it. This is also the second race in the Breeze to Victory combo. If you run Bay Breeze and Victory, you get a connector medal to create a Mega Medal. I love my race bling and these two races are perfect for achieving major bling.
Brazen always has yummy post race snacks that include bagels, fruit, chips, cookies, and It’s It ice cream sandwiches.
I’ll be back again next year for the 5th time.

You can’t beat the venue with its amazing view of the SF Bay and the well maintained running path. The medal was very nice with its rotating propeller, This is one of two races that you can do to earn a third medal to complete the set. As with all Brazen Racing event, the after race food is the best. There was an amazing assortment of fruits, chips, donuts, bagels as spreads. And of course the ice cream that Brazen is known for. I had an Its It (Cappuccino). Additionally, the times for the run was available immediately so you can see if you got an age group medal. I place 4th so out of contention but I did run my fastest for 2019. The medal for Victory was beautiful and large. It was of the image of the victory ship with red graphics. I like the environment created by the organizers and the participants seem to be nicer and friendlier. I don’t know why that is but I like it. I will definitely do this race again and other Brazen Racing Races.

Great course and great vibes on the Bay Trail! This was my second race with Brazen, and I continue to be impressed by how smoothly they run their events:
–Bib pick-up as easy as pie, whether it’s pre-race or day-of.
–Pace groups for a variety of speeds – they even had a 1:35 group!
–Well-marked course with plenty of aid stations
–Veritable smorgasbord of snacks and drinks at the finish line – not just granola bars and lukewarm cups of sports drink.

I’m hooked! I’ll be running with Brazen again.

This course was mostly flat so should be great if you want to try for your personal best. Mostly runs along the water on asphalt so lots of natural beauty. Noticed some odd smells in the early morning (fresh baked bread? chemicals from the refinery? gunk from the receding tide water?) but they were gone by the time I arrived at the finish line. Loved the fact that the San Francisco skyline was visible from the trail. #bebrazen

I’ve done the 5k the last two years with my little daughter – it’s always a PR course for her – but she had a conflict so I decided to do a half. This is only my fourth half, and the first with Brazen, usually I do more an “event” half where I have to get a hotel room and there’s spectators and all that. I’ve never done a quiet local half before.

The course is great, you hug the coast until the Albany Bulb, there’s a weird little loop there through the trails. Everything else is paved so you’re half way into a pancake flat half marathon and it’s like by the way, we have a kilometer or so on this semi hilly trail section, and due to some construction it’s extra weird this year. It’s not bad – my muscles actually appreciated the change – but be aware of it. There’s also more sharing the paths than I’m used to, not a big deal but keep your eyes out for confused cyclists and whatnot.

I’m a back of the packer for a half and maybe only 10% of the field was behind me and I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I rolled into the finish area hours after the 5k people went home. And what I got was the usual – Sam announcing my name, some cheering people at the finish, It’s It ice cream (I was afraid they’d run out), and a full spread of food – there might have been one or two things missing but there was tons to eat.

This is probably the most well-organized race I have run and I just love the post-race food and atmosphere. I ran this race last year and immediately signed up again because it was so well done! They also have great pacers usually spaced every five minutes (1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00) which is awesome. Both years have started right on time and bib pick up, bag checks, and parking is super easy.

The course itself is VERY flat and has lovely views of San Francisco. Both years I’ve run it had great weather (cold, no wind) but I can imagine sometimes it’s less than ideal (I’ve run this stretch of the trail a lot and it can get pretty windy). Most of the race is on a paved trail except for the turnaround point. The one negative was that the course was a bit long this year (0.10 mile) but they were upfront about that at the start (construction at the turn around point).

Overall, I would highly recommend this race and any others put on by Brazen!
