Make your Memorial Day Monday count by coming out for Vail’s spring road race in the mountains, a benefit for the Vail Veterans Program. The Vail Valor Races offers several distances: marathon, half marathon, 5 mile run/walk, and 1-mile. The Vail Valor Races is a healthy and fun way to get everyone together to celebrate fitness and pay tribute to both our nation’s fallen heroes and those still bravely serving.
Expect spring temps & stunning Gore Range views. Make it a family weekend and enjoy Vail’s great shops, galleries, and restaurants. And meet the locals! Post-race calzone and made in the USA Valor finisher medal to all runners.
Course Description: Monday’s races are all on paved surfaces. Moderate terrain through residential neighborhoods and along Vail Bike Path. Rolling hills and scenic panorama highlight the 5-mile and half marathon course; marathoners enjoy the spectacular mountain views twice by repeating the half marathon course. The snow-capped Gore Range is inspiring! There will be a transition/drop bag area at the finish line of the half marathon for marathon runners to access personal items before heading out on stage two (repeat of the half marathon route).
The course will be well-marked with plentiful aid stations along the way (5 in the half marathon and 10 in the full). While we hope Race Day will be warm & sunny, springtime in the mountains can be unpredictable so plan accordingly and bring back-up clothing.

I’ll be upfront I think next year this race will be much better. The former RD was ill and nothing including registration was started until Mid February. However the new company seems to be a well run machine.
Coming from Houston the altitude and lack of humidity was brutal so I had to walk way more than I wanted.
The course was amazing rivers and waterfalls with mountains all around. I think there was 100 runners total so it wasn’t big. 1st place Marathon male & female were 3:25 & 3:35 so it’s possible to speed.
