The State Games of Mississippi Trail Run is off road on trails at Bonita Lakes.

In 1992, the birth of the State Games of Mississippi elevated the spirit of amateur athletics in Mississippi. During the months of May and June, the State Games of Mississippi brings together amateur athletes of all ages and abilities from across Mississippi. It provides the benefit of physical activity and the opportunity to share an Olympic experience. Winners during the State Games are awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. The State Games strives to instill pride in personal achievement, physical fitness, and teamwork.

The event attracts roughly 5,000 athletes competing in 36 sporting events. Patterned after Olympic competition. The event comes complete with Opening Ceremonies which will be held in downtown Meridian, including the lighting of the torch and a parade of athletes.

The State Games of Mississippi is a not-for-profit organization and is primarily funded through sponsorships and contributions.
