This epic venue was once a host to the 1960 Olympic Winter Games. Spartans are in for an intense race full of twists, turns, slopes, and stunning views. With a surface elevation of 6,224 feet and a max elevation upwards of 9,000 feet; your lungs and quads better be ready for the long haul of rocky running on the slopes. The alpine swim promises a splash of fresh mountain water, and after the race, the Village is an awesome place to eat, shop and celebrate in the festival area.
This weekend will feature the 2022 Ultra World Championship race. The most resilient athletes from across the world will come together to take on 24 hours of grueling, obstacle dense racing. Who will come out on top? You’ll have to meet us in North Lake Tahoe to find out. Also, for the first time ever this weekend will feature a 10K Night Ultra Lap event. Take on one lap of the Ultra to get a taste of the Ultra Championship experience, while also cheering on the 24 hour Ultra Spartans on course.
All finishers receive a T-shirt, medal and professional photos, and every registration comes with access to the Spartan Account to track your tickets, race results, photos, teams, and challenges.

Well, the Tahoe Beast didn’t disappoint again! This course was brutal and tough. The elements didn’t help either as it was windy and cold! I clocked over 15 miles, even though the race said it was a 14.75 course. We climbed over 4,300 feet and completed over 35 obstacles. This year they had some new, cool obstacles too. The swim also hurt me pretty bad as I didn’t warm up until the bucket brigade. The bucket brigade just broke me as this was the longest in history at .5 miles. Overall, a great challenging course and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The elevation gain was pretty intense. You start at 6k and in the first six miles you make your way up to an elevation over 9k. I had to walk quite a bit. Terain was rough and rocky. My goal was just to complete. The obstacles are very spread out. The greatest part of spartan race goes to the willingness of complete stangers to help others out. I had a man give me some hand warmers when he saw me shivering from the cold, strong winds. The course was physically taxing as well as mentally.

This was by far the toughest and longest beast course I have done. Well, Monterey 2013 and 2014 have been the only beasts before this one. This one was longer then both of those at almost 15 miles. It was also very cold weather and it didn’t help starting out at 6,200 feet and almost reaching 9,000 feet. The Swim at Mile 10 hurt pretty bad. This affected me and most of the racers as I felt just fine before going into the freezing cold lake. This was a very beautiful course though! Obstacles were tough, Elevation was tough, and weather was very cold. All this made for a pretty long day on the Mountain. Everyone that finished this course should be very proud! I am coming back for some redemption in 2016!
