A Great Women’s Tri in the Heart of Sonoma! Our new home offers a great race, consistent water access and a new look at wine country. Sonoma Women’s Tri offers a supportive, fun environment for women athletes and their families. Whether you’re at the front of the pack, battling for the podium, or just out for your first tri, this race has something for you.
Running for the first time in May at Lake Berryessa in Napa, Sonoma Women’s Tri is your chance to compete in a great Olympic or Sprint distance triathlon. As our name suggests, this is a women’s race and we seek to create a supportive environment and a challenging race.
Why Lake Berryessa? Due to the current drought conditions, we can not guarantee that the swim venue at Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach will be available. This new location and proven course sets up the race for years to come.
Why May? Lake Berryessa is only available to us at certain times of the year because of the needs of boaters and others that use the Putah Campground boat ramp. It’s a great time of year to race!
The races start at 7am and as are true to the Sprint and Olympic distances as possible. The distances for each event are:
Olympic Distance – Swim (1,500m); Bike: 25.5mi (41k); Run: 6.2mi (10k)
Sprint Distance – Swim (750m); Bike: 12.4mi (20k); Run: 3.1mi (5k)
The swim courses are looped courses that start and finish at the boat ramp at Putah Canyon Campground.
All bike courses are out-and-back races on Knoxville Road which leave Putah Canyon Campground to the left and head south. The courses are rolling. The altitude profile for the Olympic ride is 1,451 ft of ascent. The Sprint profile is 777 ft of ascent.
The run courses are out-and-back races on Knoxville Road and leave Putah Canyon Campground to the right. Like the bike course, the run is rolling. The altitude profile for the Olympic 10k run is 355 ft of ascent. The Sprint 5k profile is 163 ft of ascent.
Athletes can tour the course the day before. The transition setup starts at 5:30 am.
