Happily Running and the LI Greenbelt are proud to bring you the Shore 2 Shore race, a point to point scenic 50k Taking you from the North shore of Long Island at Sunken Meadow, down through towns and trails, even under Sunrise Hwy, finally finishing at Heckscher State Park. Where will have some post race food for you to bask in your finishing of the inaugural Shore2Shore 50k! Each entrant will get a comfy quality logoed shirt as well as a pretty snazzy medal.
The course is 100% on the beautiful Suffolk County Long Island Greenbelt Trail. This trail is well maintained but does occasionally run on road and cross roads. A full map will be downloadable soon, though if you’d like to check out ligreenbelt.org now, they have tons of info. There will be course marking through the course to keep you in the right direction.
5- 6 (pending placement and mileage) FULLY stocked Aid Stations, will be available. SPRING energy gels and Skratch Hydration will be at each. We’ll also have sandwiches snacks, sodas, candy, fruit etc. Crew information will be available for each aid station soon.
While we encourage each of you to get out there and do the 50k we realize that it might be a little much for some. So we’ve created a 3 or 5 person team race. There will be little to no scoring amongst each other , but there will be an overall winner as well as the comradery of finishing as a group. The additional cost for each of the group is to cover the cost of shirts and meals for each member.
Parking will be at the finish area of Heckscher Park. You will be transported to the Start Line. You are welcome to have someone drop you off at the startline. We will have a check in at the start line prior to the race start to ensure all participants that are starting are on course.
Relay teams will be responsible to get each of their team members to the relay transition area.
