Lake Cuyamaca, at 4,613 elevation, is a beautiful venue for the San Diego Pirate’s Cove 6/12/24 Hour Run & Walk. Nestled in the Cuyamaca mountains, the lake is 8 miles south of the old mining town of Julian which is known also for their famous Julian pies.
The venue itself offers a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beer and wine are offered. Come dine on the patio overlooking the lake.
The course is a 2 mile lollipop loop (with approx.150 feet of elevation gain per loop) starting at Chambers RV Park going across the dike on the East end of the lake with one climb up over Fletcher Island, to a turn around, (where the Ghost of Lake Cuyamaca awaits), and then returning back to the RV Park. Course will be marked with red reflective arrows, pink ribbons, and trail lights.
There will be one major aid station in the rv park (spaces 7 & 8) which will take care of you after each loop. (You will also pass by your vehicle each loop and are welcome and encouraged to use your car as your personal aid station, sleeping quarters, etc) Cold and hot food supplied to all participants which will include but not limited to: various snacks, pb&j, bean & cheese burritos, hot soup, potatoes, fruit, Coke, & Gingerale. French toast sticks, coffee & hot cocoa served after midnight.
There is a restaurant and store on the property to support the crews. Please no crews eating off the aid station tables.
6, 12 and 24 Hour participants must complete a full loop for it to count. Pace and rest times are up to you. Once you decide to check out, you are out of the race and cannot return to add more loops.
Unique custom made awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female in each distance. Medals to all finishers in the 6, 12 and 24 Hour.Runners in the 24-hour event who complete 100 miles or more will receive a Pirate’s Cove buckle. Special gift to legacy runners and awards given for best male and female pirates costume. All runners will receive cool swag that’s different every year.
