This is a local and friendly race. Indoor restroom at the start. This was my first race and I remember my brother went to cheer me on near the finishing. MORE

Picked this race because it’s a month away from my Boston run and a good barometer of my fitness.

I mainly signed up for this one since it was new-to-me and I needed 12 miles that day for training for my full and a supported run is always better for me than one on my own. I didn’t really know what to expect – but the packet pick-up area was a bit confusing. Luckily, I was able to get my bib and shirt and found a restroom before the race started. The course itself was very well marked and supported with a volunteer at every corner. Water stops were plentiful and there were multiple timing mats and photographers along the way. I didn’t notice any race swag at all – rather, participants could pay for what they wanted (just a shirt, add on a medal, add on socks or a buff or a jacket, etc.). But all of that was in the same room as the awards ceremony and door prizes so it was all very “busy” and hectic … I pretty much just got the slip for my race results and left. It would have been nice to have had some direction on where to go once the race was finished – there was a photographer at the finish line, but no one with water or gatorade. I wandered back up to the church and passed a table set off to the side with drinks – I wasn’t sure if I was able to have one or if it was set up for VIPs or something (along with bananas, apples, cookies). I just took a cup of gatorade and went inside to see if there was anything more to do. I guess I do recommend the race because it was a good run and very well supported … but more direction on what to do or where to go before and after the race would have been greatly appreciated.
