Russell Forest Run

The Russell Forest Run is an out and back race that carries runners on a certified course over sand, clay, and gravel roads that were designed for runners, bicycles and electric cars. The scenic route starts at Russell Crossroads, takes runners near Kob’s Knob, up to Heaven, and back to the finish line at Russell Crossroads. The 10K will start promptly at 7:45am with a cannon shot from the Town Green at Russell Crossroads. The 5K, also an out and back, begins at the Town Green and starts with the cannon blast at approximately 7:55am.

Make sure that you hang around, after climbing up Heaven Hill and crossing the Finish Line, for the post-race party. This unique event, held in The Stables at Russell Crossroads, features the Russell Forest Run’s famous Grits Bar, Live Entertainment, Ice Cold Beer, and the awards ceremony.

The driving force behind the Russell Forest Run is to help provide educational tools for the kids in the Alexander City School System. In this time of proration, teacher cuts, and program cuts – Russell Forest Run and race sponsors have teamed with the Alexander City Education Foundation to host a challenging race, raise a few dollars for the kids, and let runners have a great race in one of the most beautiful areas in the Southeast – the Russell Forest.
