I was on call this weekend and planning to run around a 5K distance in the early afternoon. I found this 5K at noon which is untimed so more of a fun run than a race but seemed better than just running on my own and it raised money for a school. The start is at a school in Harvard, MA which is about 30 minutes southwest of where I live. It starts/finishes at the school. There was a pre race email and updated website. If you signed up early enough (which I did) you got a shirt which was an orange cotton shirt. There were no bibs. This was a very sort of grassroots race clearly completed organized by the school and parents. I do like the community involvement but it would have been nice to have a timing company or at least have it manually timed. This was all in the race info and everything was done well. The course is a loop around the neighborhoods in the school. It’s mostly woods. It would probably be really pretty in late September early October. There were rolling hills. Everything was well marked with volunteers at intersections and mile markers. There was a clock at the end so you could see your time but there were no official times. I had to take a work call and walked half a mile of the race so not my best finishing time so it’s fine it is not published. At the end there was cider and an assortment of granola bars. Overall this was what I was expecting. I’d prefer a timed race but this was all I could find and it was better than running by myself and nice to support to school.
More of a Fun Run
