This race was lovely. I would Say train appropriately for the down hills and flats to protect your joints after the climb. And do some Hill reps on the road. MORE

Fun race, start with 3 mile uphill, then 8 miles down hill. Last mile is a gradual uphill and is a KILLER! Great views, friendly athletes, nice feel overall. MORE

This is a well organized race with beautiful views. It is on a smaller scale and you have room from mile one to get into your pace. The road conditions is great. The race expo is non existant with only a bib pick up. The finish is small and intamit with room for finish line selfies. The volunteers were great and encouraging even with the 30 degree temp outside. Overall great race!!!!

This race showcases the hidden beauty that is Western Colorado. Located almost to the border or Utah, the Colorado National Monument features stunning canyon scenery with unique red rock formations. But be prepared! With over 2000′ of gain in the first 8 miles (the majority of which takes place during miles 2-5) this is no easy course. Thankfully the second half is all downhill though – which I definitely needed by that point to get me to the finish line. This is a wonderful a small town race – not a lot of spectators, but great course support and plentiful aid stations. The finishers shirt and medal were top notch as well!
