Rhein-Ruhr Marathon

Together with Berlin and Frankfurt, the Rhine-Ruhr Marathon is one of the “longest-serving” city marathons in Germany. Since 1981 the run has moved all over Duisburg. In the meantime, more than 100,000 participants have found out why it is so beautiful on the Rhine (and on the Ruhr). The start is in the largest sports park in Germany. The goal is in the Schauinsland Travel Arena, where otherwise the fans of the MSV Duisburg celebrate their team.

485 starters were present at the premiere. In the meantime, about 6.000 women and men run each year on the big river. Long there was only the classic over 42.195 kilometers on offer. Meanwhile, the Rhine-Ruhr Marathon is more than just a race: the inline marathon, the half marathon, the relay marathon and the Germany Trophy Handbiker as well as the AOK student run and the Ekidenstaffeln schools make up the whole Duisburg experience.
