The Ramon Criss Storm the Dam Trail presented by W Investments is a chip-timed trail run which winds through El Dorado Lake State Park. The race consists of three races; the SBA half marathon, 10K & 5K. Runners will use the Teter Nature Trail; along with a challenging single-track trail. Depending on rainfall expect some wet and muddy crossings. Of course, you will have to “storm up” the dam! Grassy moderate rolling hills of the Boulder Bluff horse trail await you next, work your way through the Walnut Ridge Trail before crossing the finish line near the amphitheater.
Course limit is 4 hours.
No bicycles, automobiles, roller skates, rollerblades, skateboards, baby joggers, or animals are allowed on the course.
Six volunteer-staffed aid stations await you with food and hydration. There are NO CUPS at the aid stations.
We are moved beyond words to have had such amazing support through the growing pains of hosting such a multifaceted race . While most of you know we run a few miles on private property, some do not know the land owners name. That is Ramon and Betty Criss.
May 2017 we lost Ramon. With Betty’s permission we are proud of rename this race the Ramon Criss Storm the Dam Trail Run presented by Spencer, Wernli & Wilson Advisors.
The part we do run on was some of Ramon’s favorite land and he would often drive out to check on deer, turkey and other wildlife that made that beautiful land their own. So as you run on that property, know it is even more special to us. We can only run on it on race day, that was the one rule in order for him to allow us to continue exploring the beauty.

The majority of the race is running though open fields of heavy, thick grass. Its like running through sand. It weighs down your feet making them difficult to pick up with every step. A small part of the race is on trails, and that part is much easier to run on, its packed down dirt. I also didn’t realize how many creek crossings there would be for this race (my fault, should have researched more) but there were some muddy, waist high crossings. Being soaking wet for half of the race was no fun for me. I have learned after this race that I never want to run trail races again 🙂 . I was proud that I finished cause this one was HARD!
