The Prague Half Marathon is an unforgettable race for more reasons than one. Stunning scenery awaits you at every twist and turn of the course, including the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, the National Theatre, Vyšehrad Castle and the Rudolfinum Concert Hall.
The event’s motto is ‘ALL RUNNERS ARE BEAUTIFUL’ and that is reflected in the varied field of runners who take part every year. Local schoolchildren rub shoulders with the world’s fastest distance runners, who set records over the flat and fast course.
The Prague Half Marathon was set up with one simple goal in mind – inspire the people of the Czech Republic to get active and become healthier and happier. Now almost 25 years later it has become one of Europe’s most popular half marathons.
The race takes place in a looped course of Prague with breathtaking views of Prague Castle along the way. Runners and spectators are treated to a party atmosphere, which keeps people from all over the world coming back year after year.

Prague Half is one of the 6 Super Halfs. With around 12.000 runners it‘s the smallest of the 6 races. The expo is ok. Normally the shirts of races organised by Czech Run are beautiful, this time unfortunately the shirt was not beautiful at all. The new course of the race leads across the bridges of Prague several times and also across Wenzel Square. The course is a bit challenging as many streets are paved with cobblestone!

This year’s race (was 2022) was the first since pre-COVID. I originally signed up for 2020 and the race was rescheduled multiple times until April 2022. This was my first visit to Prague. It was a nice city to visit.
Expo was more of a packet pick-up. There was one vendor there with limited merchandise. The packet pick-up was at the Prague Hilton and there was a shuttle bus to the start line from this hotel. This is NOT the hotel my group stayed at, but we walked to/from the expo as well as the start/finish line.
The race course was nice, but I’ll admit that I expected a little more. Parts of the course weren’t that exciting (but I guess that is true for most races). A not insignificant amount of the course was on cobblestones. My feet definitely were sore after the race. That said – there were definitely sections that were amazing. The people were great.
It was not an expensive city – which was great. We did a food and drink walking tour the day after the race, which was a lot of fun. It is a nice vacation!

Good expo! Good atmosphere at the start with classical music! Nice course along the river Moldau. Could definitively offer more drinks as it was very hot and sunny weather – first drinks at km 6. All in all a nice, but not overwhelming race.

Czechrunning organises a series of all gold labled IAMS races in Czech Republic. Everything is very professional- from registration to packet pick up – everything runs very smoothly. The race is sold out every year, so make sure you register on time. Starting near Carls Bridge the first part of the race leads over cobble stone streets, later asphalt and is mainly flat. In 2017 the female winner Joyciline Jepkosgei was the first woman ever to finish a 21.1km/ 13.1 mile race in less than 65 minutes. Great atmosphere. One of my favourite races.
