Experience the Polar Night with approximately 2000 runners from all over the world. The PolarNight Marathon takes place in the middle of the day, but at this time of year the sun never rises above the horizon. In the absence of the sun there will be darkness and the amazing display of colours that is so special for this time of year. If we are lucky with the weather you will be running under the Northern lights (Aurora Borealis).
We offer four road races during the PolarNight Marathon and these are certified by AIMS: Ishavskraft Marathon, Halfmarathon, Mørketidsmila (10K) or Mørketidstrim (5K).
This marathon is not for everyone. A cold and potentially severe climate makes everything much harder. For these reasons few special requirements are required to attend this race. This is no ordinary marathon. This is an adventure race.

Polar Night Half Marathon in Tromsö is very special. At the beginning of January it´s dark almost 24 hours a day. The atmosphere at the start and finish is very unique – all runners are wearing a yellow vest and candles are lightening the way. The whole course is covered with snow. In 2013 we were quite lucky as it was quite mild with temperatures around freezing point.
