Be bold in the cold in the East End for the Year End celebration at the Polar Bear Dip & Dash! The fun will take place in Portland, Maine on Sunday, New Year’s Eve. Walk or run a 5K around Portland’s Back Cove, plunge into the Atlantic Ocean, or both. Registration will open at 9:00 a.m. at the Back Cove Parking lot for the 5K. The race will start at 11 a.m., and the dip will be at noon at East End Beach. A shuttle will return participants to the Back Cove parking lot after the dip.

A 5K or ocean dip in winter in Maine to raise funds to combat global warming is fitting. Weather patterns are changing from one extreme to the next and our seas are rising. The effects of climate change on Maine’s environment are severe.

Energy efficiency, clean air, and renewable energy sources are a priority for NRCM. Every cent you raise will be used to directly support this work to reduce global warming emissions.
