Picnic Island Ultra is a USATF Sanctioned Event at Riverbend Park in Jupiter FL.
There will be several events; a 10 hour and a 6 hour Individual, 6 hour team relay, half marathon, & 10k with a cap of 100 runners. (A fixed time event is where you have 6 or 10 hours to run as much as you can or want to. Technically, you’re a finisher after completing one loop!) The half marathon is 4 loops, the 10 km is 2 loops!
This is a Perfect KEYS100 shake-out run to test out your strategy and gear for that race!! The race is 60+ days out from KEYS100. You can run either event, individually or as a relay team. (See relay info below.)
Course: The course will be a loop around Riverbend Park (the long loop will be 3.32 miles). You’ll pass the Start/Finish Line / Aid Station and your gear every loop. We alternate the course direction each year
Aid Station: A fully stocked aid station will be at the Start/Finish line, stocked with better then average ultra food!
Relay Info: For the 6 hour events, teams are 2 or 3 runners! Only one runner per team is scored (wearing the timing tag) however a 2nd runner can accompany the designated runner, so no one has to run alone.
How you divide up the time is up to you; however each runner must do one full lap of the course which is 3.32 miles around. Runners do not have to go in any special rotation, so one runner can run more than the others.
Note: Something to consider, running a specific time, like 2 hours each. Since this is a loop course it will take different people a different amount of time to do a loop, so on a team of 3 one runner might run 1 hour for 2 loops and the other runner will take 1.5 hours to do the same distance and the 3rd could take 2 hours.
