This was just my second race with Northwest Trail Runs – and it was great.

I did the 5k just to test myself out and it was an amazing course. Not a ton of elevation in the 5k, which was fine with me given the slipperiness of the trail (rain and trails are always tricky). The single-tracking was nice, and overall the trail was well marked – there were a few spots that I was a bit worried about being lost, but then I saw a ribbon.

The only downside was that I was waved through at the aid station, I figured that I was supposed to loop back to it, but that didn’t happen so I ended up without water.

On the upside, there was a raffle at the end and I got a coupon for $30 off some new shoes (thanks to Shoes-n-Feet) – and just in time as I need new trail shoes if I’m going to do more of these slippery Washington trails!
