Come watch the sunrise over the desert and then run down into it. The Oriflamme 50K has a little bit of everything…single track along the Pacific Crest Trail, a more than 2,000 foot drop into the desert, a run through the beautiful desert scenery of Box Canyon, and then the … MORE

The volunteers are top-notch and the views are unbeatable in this race. Some parts of the course are extremely rocky, technical and steep—I didn’t have trekking poles but they would come in handy for this race. Be forewarned—I have run 50-milers that are not as hard as this 50k that packs a punch! Race logistics were simple and smooth. Race swag this year was a fitted high quality long-sleeve shirt, a cool medal with “stained glass” detail, and a mini flashlight with race logo—liked them all. Train hard on hills for this one and be prepared for the sneaky, tough 5-mile section on sand! If you are lucky, you may spot desert blooms. Highly recommend for a challenging race that showcases the beauty of the trails in this area.

Wow, I live in SoCal and hadn't heard of Oriflamme, sounds like yet another great race in our area. Though it's tough to imagine 5 miles in sand... the short stretch at Bataan was tough, so 5 miles feels like a quad-killer. And a cool medal shot, I'm a sucker for stained glass 😊. Congrats on conquering this one Lisa and thanks for your excellent review, hope to hear more about your racing adventures here on RaceRaves. And hopefully we'll bump into each other sometime at a start or finish line here in SoCal! LESS
