Northumberland Coastal Marathon

Without doubt, The Northumberland Coastal Marathon is one of the most scenic marathons in the country. The marathon starts 9:00 am on the beach beside the children’s play area in Alnmouth.

The course runs from Alnmouth Beach along a scenic coastal path passing Boulmer, Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle (see English Heritage and National Trust) and Low Newton Sands. The marathon takes you up to Long Nanny Bridge, where after a short run on the beach the course returns to Alnmouth along the same route. The half marathon follows the same route to Craster then returns back to Alnmouth.
