The Meadowcraft wines were delightful! If someone is looking for a sweet non-dry wine, try the Enkidu. Poseidon has a fantastic Chardonnay!

This is a nice race with a good course getting to see vineyards. The medal is really nice, but overall not worth the high expense to run the race. The water stops early have very few people and are very crowded, so I recommend running with a water bottle at least for the start. The last water stop gets crowded with the 5K walkers as well, so many people stop right in the middle of the water stop making it difficult to get through. Course is pretty hilly so don’t plan on a PR.

This is my 3rd Destination Race, but , my first Napa-to-Sonoma. The course is beautiful. It is hillier than I am used to, but not difficult. Packet pick-up and the post race expo were fantastic. The road has a lot of potholes, but that’s to be expected on asphalt country roads. I’d do it again!

This is a must-do during your running career. It caters to both regular and casual runners. The course was beautiful, and there were great crowds to cheer you on throughout the course (the midway crowd was my particular useful for me!). The course felt somewhat difficult with a lot of rolling hills (and the heat didn’t help), but the beautiful scenery helped it fly by. Before I knew it, I finished with a new PR by TWO minutes! Only change I’d make is to host it on a Saturday, so, those from out of town can get a full day of post-run wine tasting in before flying out!

Overall I really enjoyed the race, and this was my first half marathon. Destination Races did take a long time to respond to my emails, but they did eventually get back to me. Race was well organized, and it was fun to end in a wine festival. But for the price, I was disappointed in the lack of schwag and food at the end.

It was my first time running the Napa to Sonoma Half marathon. It was great seeing all the vineyards and local streets along the route. The race shirt design was really nice and well done. The entire race was well-run. The organizers did a great job!

The bus from Napa to the starting line was convenient and free! There was plenty of parking in the shopping plaza.

    Only a cons:
-The racers were stopped at least twice to allow street traffic to flow. It broke up the momentum and added minutes to our finish times.
-$20 to pick up your race bib on the race day is a bit steep. The alternative was to pick it up at the Expo the day prior for free.

I ran Napa to Sonoma as a bucket list race, but to be honest, this race could have killed someone. I’m a late-middle to back-of-pack runner, and by mile 4, the water stops were out of water and there wasn’t water at mile 6 either. I told other runners on the course that if there wasn’t water at mile 8, I was calling 911. Luckily, they had enough water from that point on, but the fact that race day was almost a record high makes that negligence unacceptable.

The course is gorgeous, but the roads are riddled with potholes. However, the local support was amazing, especially the residents who brought out hoses to spray us down and the brewery and winery who has little samples for us along the way.

I won’t run this race again, and I would advise caution to any back-of-packer considering running.

Add this race to your “Bucket List” of races and you will not be disappointed!

The course itself is absolutely beautiful and fairly gentle. Of course, it is mid-July so prepare accordingly for high temps. It was disappointing to hear that water stations were not well-stocked particularly since the heat was not an unknown factor. I think it would be wise for DR to hire Race Medics, too. I saw at least four ambulances. 🙁 Heat stroke is no joke!

Anyhoo, HIGHLY recommend this race if you want to do a girl’s weekend or an extended romantic getaway, stay a few extra days. There is so much to do and see in Napa, Sonoma and just the Bay area in general.

Full disclosure: I was the 2:45 pacer and had access to the VIP area; however, everything about the post-race part was party, party, party! Very festive.

The course scenery was excellent and the after party was one of the best I’ve attended. Packet pick up was smooth, other than the small, congested parking lot. Transportation was well thought out, but lines became extremely backed up in Sonoma, resulting in a 10-min start time delay. This is unacceptable considering how many years they’ve put this race on. Although there were supposedly aid stations on the course they were not easily identified (maybe use the standard Red Cross sign?). The biggest complaint about the race was the lack of water stations. Most major races have at least one stop every 1.5 or even every mile. If you’re going to host a race in the middle of July in the middle of wine country with little shade, you need to have more water stops. I’m sure a lot of people suffered heat exhaustion or even worse, heat stroke. Despite my criticisms, I thought it was an awesome race and the after party certainly made up for any shortfalls.

Best post race too! It felt like a community 5K race done perfectly and yet it is a 1/2. Very impressive and I’d do another Destinstion Race for sure.

I enjoyed the scenery and location so much, I ran solely for the experience. The route took us through back country roads that I never would have gotten to see had I not done this race. I snapped lots of photos along the way and sipped wine at the GunBun refreshment stop. What a treat! Weather was chilly to start; I kept a jacket on the whole time. Plenty of water stations, fun finish line celebration – loved it. Will definitely be running another Destination Race in the future!

Fairly easy course meandering on roads through the Vineyards and countryside. Awesome course support and just very relaxing! There are a couple places where you may need to stop to let traffic go on the highway but Law Enforcement handles the traffic so it is safe. The stops are great to catch your breath and charge on faster towards the finish. The course ends in downtown Sonoma with crowds watching from store fronts and Bistros. Such a fun course!
