Marathon by the Sea is changing it up for 2023, with a number of work projects affecting the marathon & half marathon event, we have decided for 2023 only, to create New Brunswick’s newest running event the Bay of Fundy Running Celebration.
Events include:
Color my World 4K (Saturday, 2:00 pm)
Into the Night 4K (Saturday, 9:30 pm)
Beat the Angry Scotsman Harbour Passage 5K (Sunday, 10:00 am)
Reversing Falls 10 Km (Sunday, 10:00 am)
Bay of Fundy Half Marathon (Sunday, 10:00 am)
The Reversing Falls are a group of waterfalls located on the Saint John River in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The Saint John River passes through a narrow gorge, which in turn forms the rapid falls before emptying its waters in the Bay of Fundy. The falls exhibit an interesting reverse flow of water which is caused by the change of tides in the Bay of Fundy. The bay records the highest tidal range in the world. The Reversing Falls are a popular site in Saint John and a major tourist attraction in the area.
The new Bay of Fundy Half Marathon is an out and back, with a double loop.

This was my first half marathon but a repeat runner as I ran the 5mile marathons before. I was up for a challenge and I found the course for half marathon to be rather pleasant. I beat my time by 7 minutes. I would do that route again with more signage. Almost made a wrong turn and another runner directed me. Still great run. Didn’t like the location of the clock at the start/stop.

The best part of the race is running the harbour bridge. The scenery is beautiful!
I think we need a stager start of 10 minutes with the full and half going off at 8:00 am and the 5 and 10 km going of at 8:10. The start is too congested and it is difficult to get around the walker/ slow runner that are doing the 5 and 10.
Great support at the water stations. The shirts this year were awesome. Less on them the better.
The medals are still cheap looking. The prize for the age group winners should be different than a medal.
Great race and overall event. Hard cours
Tough course for 10km and further. Prepare for hills! Scenery of the Bay of Fundy, as you cross Harbour Bridge is outstanding. Great organizers and aid stations. MORE

LOADS OF SWAG! 5 hour course limit, but runners can start early (I did). Few participants in full marathon. Few spectators. Distance markers every 5km/3 mi. Long lonely out & back miles. Final six miles through park were pretty, but hilly. Some crushed gravel trail.
