This year the start/finish is at Donner Ski Ranch, on privately owned land so we won’t need a permit, but we will have to alter the course. We will send out the new course details by July and as we work on that it is possible to still get our permit and run close to the original route on the Warren Lake loop over Castle and Basin peaks. We will have to follow the new health guidelines for everyone’s safety.

Join us for one of Truckee’s most scenic and rugged trail races! Epic Endurance Events with special support from Run On Dirt Coaching present the Lost and Found 55K & 30K. Designed by Peter Fain of Run On Dirt, this course will leave you breathless. From the abundant wildflowers to the Summit of 9000ft Castle Peak with 360′ views of the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, you will be inspired by the beauty and tested by the difficulty. Whether you are looking for a rugged course that will prepare you for mountain races like TRT100/55 and Castle Peak100k or you want to discover the magic that awaits around this high alpine route, we will guide you safely on this journey. The Lost and Found 55K/30K has something for everyone — join us this August and celebrate in the great outdoors.
The 55K is a modified multi loop course. The start/finish is next to Lake Van Norden across from Soda Springs Ski area. Starting with a loop up to Razorback Ridge back to the start then under I-80 through the culvert. Take the single track over to the Donner Lake Rim Trail to picturesque Summit Lake Aid station as you wind through ancient granite slabs. Then return back and join the Warren Lake trail which continues to climb up next to the Frog Lake overlook. You then fall off the ridge where you find miles of wildflowers and little streams as you make your way through this pristine alpine valley. The climb up to Basin Peak will test your mettle but then the reward is real as follow along the most amazing ridge with 360′ views from the Coast Range to Mt Rose where you summit Castle Peak. Enjoy the views before you plummet down to Castle Pass, hop on the Hole in the Ground Trail and head back to the start/finish. Approximate elevation gain is 6000 feet. The 30k will bypass the Royal Gorge loop and the Johnson Canyon loop and have around 4000 feet of gain.
The post party will feature hot grilled food with lots of cold drinks to enjoy. Bring your family and friends and we will feed them too; no one is turned away from our famous trip-tip burritos and tacos, homemade rice, beans, guacamole and salsa!
