The LA River Half-Marathon is the official race of the LA River, started in 2013. This is a particularly beautiful course found in the heart of Los Angeles. The LA River is home to some of the most innovative projects we’ll see in our lifetimes. Not only that, it has … MORE

    Worse race ever

Only 2 water stops when they said water every 2 miles in 70+ degrees, no additional porta potties, no medical along the way, the tech T-shirt they said we’d get was a cotton T-shirt, my name wasn’t on my bib like they said it would be. No photographers. I would’ve placed had it been chip time, not gun time. No award ceremony afterwards. As of today, results aren’t up so you can’t even check your time. The path was full of garbage, there was nothing beautiful about the river full of trash. $100 is ridiculous for having such a disorganized race. I emailed and Rob responded, offering a refund, but never followed through. I’ve tried contacting with no response back. I would never recommend this race to anyone. I really wish active.com wouldn’t allow them to have payment through them.

My wife ran this race last year, while I was still not a runner myself. Things have changed as I have become a runner. This is my second 10K and I am hooked. In short this race is awesome! First of all, it blew my mind to know there is a maintained asphalt path that runs along the LA River. The road is fairly level with the intermittent bridge that will push the cardio and the mental toughness. I loved how this race was filled with locals and did not have the mob feeling of bigger races. There was one water station and that is really all you need for a 10k. As I was running along the river I actually saw an Egret, very beautiful bird, featured on the metal from the race. The race has beautiful views of the Los Angeles Smoggy Skyline, and then the dry Northern Mountains on the way back. for $2 you can ride the luxury shuttle bus that will take you from the start of the race, where you finish as well, and you will end up at the Golden Road Brewery where you will enjoy a cold beer (free) and explore the meat and potatoes menu. I will definitely be running this race again and the LA River many more times.
