Bloomsday is very special to me. I have had a double knee replacement so to be able to walk without knee pain, complete the race and not be last is the best feeling ever. I love the atmosphere and the organizers have it down to a science. I totally recommend. Anyone can do Bloomsday. It’s so fun!

Bloomsday is a legendary event for its sheer scope and community impact. Spokane comes out on the first Sunday of May.

While the course is no breeze for a runner looking to RUN, it’s well covered with tons of support, both official and unofficial, and the course is kept open for hours to be friendly to the struggling as well as the casual participant, right down to stroller pushing families.

I look forward to this run every year. Tons of energy from the volunteers, participants and fans. There is music every few blocks and cheering fans line the entire route. Extremely well organized. It’s fun whether you are running out front or walking the entire thing. This is a run/race everyone should do at least once in their life.

This is my 3rf Bloomsday and although I wasn’t as prepared as I would have liked this time, I really enjoyed it. This year I did my best but also took the time to enjoy the view. My only complaint is that some of the water stations had water that tasted like hose water. Usually this wouldn’t bother me…but weird enough, the hose tasting water made me more thirsty during the race!

Un like me start preparing more than 2 weeks in advance. There are many hills so it is better to be in decent shape so you don’t need the entire next day to recoupe.
No need to bring anything. Water stations a perfectly spread and people hand out treats at times. It’s all around a great time.

Plenty of water stations. Loved all the spectators cheering us on. It’s a very well organized event. The shuttle system is sweet! Tradeshow is awesome as are the selfie spots. Color groups are well marked. A variety of bands playing along the route. Course is marked out at certain mile markers so you get a feel for how far you have come and how far you have to go. Race results are posted fairly quickly along with some pics which is nice. Highly suggest signing up via email as the organizers do a super great job of keeping you up to date and informed. If running, your shuttle ticket is on your bib which makes it nice not to have to keep track of something else. This was my 8th year running it. LOVE Bloomsday!

I had wanted to prepare better but hurt my ribs skiing on March 18th. Exercise being limited and wanting to continue dieting, I felt there were lots of obstacles in my way. At age 66 and 30 pounds overweight, I really felt I needed to do this. I was able to complete the walk with my diabetic, insulin pump dependent husband (66), and son (39)! I had a touch of heat exhaustion toward the end, but kept it at bay with water, rest and food. We are proud to be finishers, as well as a military family (Vets) and among the few we had the pleasure to meet. Hoorah!

My first time at Bloomsday and I thought everything was done quite well. The pre-race organization made it easy to acquire my bib and browse all the latest running gadgets. The race itself was a little crowded with over 30,000 people attending, but the course was challenging enough, the music along the way was great and the river scenery was nice as well. I would definitely recommend this race and I’ll be back again next year!!

Bloomsday is one of those fun events…no matter if you walk or run it. I personally love it for the challenge..even though I walked it. I have walked it for the last 4 years and I plan doing it again next year. The scenery is beautiful. Doomsday Hill is the biggest challenge but if you are determined, you can do it! Do this race… you’ll love it!

My 7 year old and I were very hesitant to sign up as we’ve never gone this far before and we aren’t a fan of big crowds. Much to our surprise, everything was super organized and the crowds were staggered so that it wasn’t an issue. The shirts were awesome and the volunteers were so incredibly helpful every step along the way. There was adequate water supply and the energy was amazing. Definitely a new tradition for us!!
