From event’s Facebook page (3/23/22): “West Volusia Runners has proudly put on Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon and 5K for 10 years, donating over $178,000 to our Volusia County High School’s Athletic Departments. Unfortunately, due to rising expenses to put on this large race it is not cost effective right now for the race to go on in 2022. We want to ensure that we not only put on a race that is amazing for the runners but also give a large donation to the schools.”

You could not ask for a more picturesque Half Marathon in Central Florida. The city of Ponce is welcoming the runners of the community and visitors alike with open arms! The Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon route will head south A1A where you will be met by Florida’s tallest Lighthouse while looping around to enjoy the beauty of Peninsula Road along the river and under canopied trees.
There is no better way to spend a crisp, cool, autumn morning than running and there won’t be a more beautiful run than through the streets along the eastern coastline of Volusia County.
There is no better venue than The Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon & 5K. Both routes begin in Port Orange, just near the base of the Dunlawton bridge. The half marathon route will take you south until you loop around the scenic Ponce Inlet lighthouse. When you cross the finish line prepare yourself for a great after party too at our exclusize PartyZone!!
There is no better place to be this October. This race will help raise funds for the ten public high school athletic departments in Volusia County. Our first two races successfully raised over $45,000 our our school’s athletics. We are excited to continue to add to the effort with another successful fundraiser!

So, last year I volunteered and the weather was PERFECT! (in the 50’s) this year, it was 77 degrees and 95% humidity AT THE START. They can’t control that, but they had plenty of ice cold orange juice (bring up the blood sugar), tea, beer, energy drinks and great catered breakfast to help bring us back to life. The course is pretty, the schools that volunteer were cheerful, the bands playing were awesome, the Marines were wonderful to us, and the shirt and medal were beautiful. So the things they could control, they got right! Come run it next year and hope for better weather!
Great race in a beautiful place!
