Young and old, avid racers or exercise trotters, or just plain scenic strollers… and where all participants are encouraged to disguise themselves in their favorite Halloween-themed getups! Why? Because fantastic giveaways await early registrants and costume wearers: scariest, funniest and most original in engaging contests throughout race time. Shy about donning a costume? We understand. Everyone’s a winner really, so take comfort knowing each participant receives medals and some cool race bling regardless.
All participants receive the unique “Jumbo Jack” pumpkin medal and other cool swag… separate category awards too… plus random-drawing chances to win additional contest prizes along the way!
The LECOM Virtual Costume Caper 5K is part of the world-famous Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival. Now in its third year, the festival is one of the largest giant pumpkin exhibits anywhere, with fruits weighing from 1,000 to over 2,500 pounds! Like so many other events worldwide effected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival had to alter its attractions and delivery for health and safety reasons.
No sad faces here because it’s still happening — albeit in altered form — and renamed for 2020 as the Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins PopUp, a drive-by only display of prodigious pumpkins artfully assembled into one of the most herculean pumpkin carving scenes ever attempted using the Dill’s Atlantic Giant variety. So, if you find yourself in the great City of Pittsburgh Oct. 30 thru Nov. 5, drive by and become part of the pumpkin-sanity.
Proceeds support deserving medical students training to brave the front-lines everywhere.
