IRONMAN 70.3 Shanghai-Chongming

Chongming Island in Shanghai is the third largest island in China. As the largest alluvial island at the estuary of a river and the largest sand island in the world, Chongming Island is also acclaimed as the “Door to the Yangtze River, Yingzhou Island (a celestial mountain in fairy tales of ancient China) in the East China Sea.”

The swim will take place in the freshwater Mingzhu Lake. It will be a single-loop rolling start format with expected water temperature to be 17-21C.

The completely flat two-loop bike course starts and finishes at Mingzhu Lake Park. This course is guaranteed to be fast with few turns and pristine pavement.

The three-loop run circles the lake in Mingzhu Lake Park. There is plenty of shade with the surrounding forest and gardens.
