The race was difficult for me because it was on the mountain, and we don’t really have mountains where I live. Some steep ascents made it tough. The descents were mostly steady, but a couple were sharp as well. The course ran on regular roads on the mountain, which made for smooth running. The roads were open so traffic was present, but not too much. The weather was hot in Portland that weekend, but on the course it was cool thanks to the heavy shade from the trees. The road also ran along a river and provided nice views throughout the run. The race was well organized and had some great support along the way.

Overall I rated the swag as average. The appeal to me was the medal – a wooden medal of Bigfoot. Over the years the cost of that production has apparently increased, so the company has had to cut back on other things. The run was a little cheaper than others – I believe I registered at $55 price level, but a t-shirt was not included. There were some available for purchase at the expo for $15. At packet pick up there was a nice insolated custom tote, and it contained a few items such as a sample bag of chips, chapstick, a bumper sticker, deodorant, and another snack sample – but none of it was too exciting. I would have rather had the shirt than the things in the bag.
