This race is a great scenic and flat course. You park at the finish and are shuttled to the start. The course winds through the bay inlets and farmland. Aide stations were great and the running lane was coned off from vehicle traffic, but there was hardly any cars anyway. Finish was great with snacks and beer. The only real disappointment was the medal. In past years it was a nice medal with an actual sliding draw bridge but the years was a generic round medal with a sticker on it. I travel for a lot of races and past medals is definitely a factor in my race selections. Had I known this was going to be a cheap generic medal I probably would have not picked this race.

Stay in St Michaels lots of places within walking distance of the start line and many great restaurants and shops. If you drive to the finish to catch the bus, get there before 645 there is not a lot enough parking.

There are real bathrooms at the start and finish. And the inn at the start let us sit inside until the race began. Which was great as it was 38 degrees. The course is 12+ miles running in the left shoulder of a 2 lane road with 50 MPH traffic. Lots of farms and trees to watch as you run with only a couple glimpses of the water. Aid stations were well manned and ample. My left pinky toe was not pleased after running on the left angled crown of the road, all in all an easy course. Almost no spectators and no police presence except the beginning and end.

Sweatshirt was nice. Medal was mediocre. Race instruction and communication was great before and during. The post race “snack” was my favorite so far. Simple stuff that was all natural. 250 runners all doing a half.
