Heritage Park, during the peak for beautiful Fall colors, will be the site of the Heritage 1/2 Marathon and 50k Ultramarathon. Choose 13.1 or 31 miles of beautiful trails, with minimal pavement for your fall 1/2 or 50k, or your first race/run experience on the trails.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need to be an experienced runner to participate? No, all are welcome, and you can do it. Run or Jog! We do have a cut-off time for the races: Runners will need to finish by 3:30pm. For the 50k that’s 9 hours which equals 17:23 average per mile. For the 1/2 marathon that’s 7 hours which equals 32:04 average per mile.
What do I get for registering? All participants who register before Oct 18 will receive our awesome long-sleeve tech race shirt! Runners will have access to fully stocked aid stations along the route, and food at the finish. All finishers will also receive a custom medal.
What happens if I register for the 50k but change my mind before or during the race? During the race, participants may “drop down” and switch from the 50k to the 1/2 marathon. As long as a participant completes at least 13.1 miles, they will be recognized as a 1/2 marathon finisher. Please Note: After initial registration, we will not be able to refund the difference in the registration prices if you drop down a race. Also, you will not be able to bump up to a longer distance once the race has started.
What will you have at Aid Stations? Expect water, sports drink, and energy food for 1/2 marathoners and ultras will also have pop, sweet, salty, and savory snacks!
What will the course be like? Heritage Park is a beautiful wooded park with paved trails, service roads, single and double track trails, along with wide open spaces. Trails are well maintained with occasional roots, and rolling hills. Some areas could be muddy in the event of rain, but for the most part, the park and trails are in excellent condition during the entire year, and especially scenic during the Fall.
What gear will I need? Sunrise on race day will be at 8:01am. We require everyone running the 50k or marathon to have a headlamp, flashlight, or other light to begin the race. Trail or road shoes will both work for the trails of Heritage Park. There will be a designated area at approximately the 13.1 mile mark for 50k runners to keep a drop bag or other personal items needed during the race.
What can I win and how? We have some great prizes up for grabs. Awards will be given to the Male and Female Overall and Masters (40+ years old) champions and to Male and Female age group winners in the following categories: 18 & Under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. All Finishers will receive a Finisher’s Medal.

I had a great time on this race. It was technically difficult, with a lot of single-file trail through the woods, switchbacks and small, sometimes steep hills. The course was marked quite well aside from one place where I got a little off track (though it was available in All Trails if you wanted to follow along that way). There was a long stretch of running back and forth through lumpy grass, which may have been a little hard on the ankles, but at least it was still a soft surface. At the finish, there was a screen with immediate results posted. Plenty of food and drinks at the end. No bathrooms on the course. Aid station was nice. I was late to sign up so didn’t get a shirt, so I can’t speak to the swag. Medal was nice.
