The course is flat and fast using city streets, state routes and county roads on the shores of Grand Lake. Miles will be marked and half distance splits will be provided. Aid stations will be available approximately every 2 miles. Port a Johns at every other aid station. Aid stations along the course serve water and other performance fuels.
Participation Limits: This event has a 1,000 runner limit (1,500 for the half marathon). Register early for discounted entry fees and best shirt selection.
Timing: Marathon will have split timing points at 6.55 miles, 13.1 miles and 19.65 miles.
Event Shirts: Late registrations may get a shirt based on availability. Exchanges may be available after the race.
Gear check will be located at tent near Start/Finish. Items left at Start/Finish after the finish will be donated to C.A.L.L. clothing bank in Celina. Important Course Information: Participants must maintain a reasonable pace along the course (16:30 pace). A follow vehicle will be on course after the park that will maintain a 16:30 pace. Participants who fall outside of that pace will be asked to take a sag vehicle to the start/finish area. All aid stations will close in succession with this time plan. The course will be open until 2:00PM.
Course Nutrition: On course nutrition will be GU gels and GU Brew hydration drink. GU developed a Marathon and Half Marathon Nutrition Planner to help runners dial in their plan for race day. We all know things can change on race day, but it helps to start with a plan!

I used this race as a workout opposed to racing all out. It was perfect because I signed up really early for a super affordable price and it was a fun way to get in a long run. The race definitely has a small town feel and there isn’t a ton to look at it. You can see the lake some of the race but you also see a lot of corn fields and country roads. However, it is extremely well organized, the swag rocked and for 2018 the weather was extraordinarily nice. They also do the post race beers at a nearby bar/restaurant. The finisher area is on a beautiful part of the lake by a lighthouse which makes for awesome pictures. I would definitely do this race again especially for the price I paid ($30) but I did sign up almost a year in advance.
