The Frost or Fog 10-Mile, Quarter Marathon and 5K is one of Chico’s favorite winter runs! Join us in Upper Bidwell Park for great, challenging courses that cover gravel, trail and road! The start and finish lines are at 5-Mile Recreation Area on Centennial Avenue in Upper Bidwell Park.
The 5K course begins at 5 Mile on the levee and continues onto Wildwood Trail to the Shooting Range. Runners/walkers will turn around at the Shooting Range (also aid station #1) and come back along the bike path turning left onto 5 Mile Way. Runners/walkers will finish at the far end of the footbridge.
The 1/4 Marathon course is the same as the 5K course until the Shooting Range. 1/4 Marathon runners will pass the Shooting Range and continue back to Bear Hole (also aid station #2). Runners turn around at Bear Hole and will come back along the road, pass the Shooting Range, and turn left on 5 Mile Way. Runners will finish at the far end of the footbridge.
The 10-Mile course follows the 1/4 Marathon route but continues past Bear Hole for approximately 1.75 miles before you turn around to join your friends on the way back!

Training for this race makes me dig deep, and the views on the run are the best. Sad to say there are not any plans for this race to continue past 2018, I may have to run it in 2019 even without the event.

The challenges and the scenery of this run makes it one I will do again and again. The last mile or so before the turn around gets very rocky and if it’s been raining there will be lots of water running down the trail. At the finish line the finisher’s medal is beautiful, and the food fantastic.
