Fontandango 50 Miler & Buzzard Bait 50K

Fontandango is a 10 Mile loop made up of primarily well maintained single track trail, mixture of rolling hills and short steep climbs on the property of Fontana Village Resort in Fontana Dam, NC.

Runners will enjoy scenic views of Fontana Dam and surrounding mountains with a well supported route of 3 aid stations per loop. Runners may register for the 10 mile race (1 loop), 50K race (3 loops) and 50 mile (5 loops). There is a 50< relay option for up to 3 people (1 loop per person). This is a tough race! Roughly 2000' of gain per loop. Racers who are registered for the 50 miler may drop down to the 50k upon finishing the 3rd loop (no refunds for the price difference). 80% of runners in the 50 miler dropped to the 50k – Will you be able to finish the challenge? ALL RUNNERS MUST FINISH BY 11:59PM. THAT IS A 17 HOUR TIME LIMIT FOR THE 50 MILE RUNNERS. Runners in the 50K and 50 mile races may set up a “drop bag” support location at the start/finish area. Runners will return to this area every 10 miles before beginning the route again. Aid Stations will be fully stocked with Tailwind, gels, snacks, and other drinks and goodies! We'll have homemade soup and food grilling at the Finish Area! You'll have to earn your hoodie! Reason being, if you decide to finish at 50k, your hoodie will read "I decided to be Buzzard Bait" with the new 50K Buzzard Bait Logo. If you carry on & finish the 50 Mile, your hoodie will read "I ran the whole DAM thing!"
