Finish for a Guinness is a charitable event being held to raise awareness and funds for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. In the winter of 2008 Christopher Stone was diagnosed with ALS at the young age of thirty-four. As a result, the Christopher Stone Fund was established to help support the Stone family as they went through this challenging time. Sadly, Chris lost his fight in the summer of 2009, less than a year after being diagnosed. However, the Christopher Stone Fund continues to actively raise funds for local ALS chapters and families as well as other charitable causes.
The post-race event will take place at the Old Warren Marina located at the race finish along the waterfront. At the post-race event, runners will be able to get a free Guinness, review race results at the awards ceremony, and enjoy food and music.
$150 cash prize to top overall male/female runners & free entry for 2022. Awards to the top three male/female finishers in each group: 13 & under, 14-18, 19-20, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
T-shirts to all pre-registered runners.
All proceeds will benefit the RI ALS chapter as well as local charitable causes.
This horrific disease affects over 30,000 people just in the USA. Caring for individuals with ALS is often expensive and emotionally straining. We hope this race will help provide ALS victims, families, and caretakers with the most fulfilling quality of life during this most trying time.
We thank you in advance for the opportunity to speak and connect with you and others in the community to make this event a continued success!
